How to spot a fake sale
A sale compares the selling price to a reference price. Inflating that struck-through price to show a dramatic discount is a classic misleading practice, and in the EU the reference must be the lowest price of the previous 30 days.
The game uses real items from the PriceGuessr catalogue, with their real, dated and sourced prices. Each tag is either honest (the struck price is the usual price) or rigged (the struck price is inflated and the “sale” has you paying full price). You make the call.
The habit to keep: before buying, compare the sale price with the item's usual price, not with the struck one. That's exactly what the game trains.
